About Wibawa
A Practice Built on Careful, Considered Counsel
Our mission is to give individuals a clear, honest account of their pension position — and then to stand beside them through whatever steps they choose to take.
Back to HomeOur Story
Wibawa was founded on a simple premise
Pension matters are, for most people, among the more consequential financial questions they will ever face. Yet they arrive at these questions without the background to read scheme rules, interpret contribution records, or understand what an administrator's letter actually means. The gap between what an individual is entitled to and what they receive can be significant — and often goes unnoticed.
Wibawa was established in Kuala Lumpur to address that gap. The practice focuses exclusively on pension-related legal matters: entitlement reviews, recalculation disputes, and survivor pension claims under Malaysian retirement frameworks. That focus means our lawyers work within a defined area of law, developed over many years of practice in the Malaysian context — not as a broad generalist firm taking on whatever comes through the door.
The name Wibawa means authority and dignity in the Malay language. Both qualities describe how we approach each client's matter — with the professional authority to navigate complex pension frameworks, and with the care to handle each situation with the respect it deserves.
Our Mission
Clarity first. Action only when you are ready.
Every engagement begins with listening. The lawyer's first task is to understand the client's situation clearly — the nature of the employment, the pension scheme involved, the specific concern or question — before offering any view on the appropriate path.
From that understanding, we produce a clear written summary of what applies and what the realistic options are. Clients are then free to take time, reflect, and decide at their own pace. There is no pressure to proceed to any further step that the client has not considered and agreed to.
"We do not encourage urgency. The matters we handle deserve careful thought, and we work at a pace that respects that."

Client Confidentiality
Legal professional privilege applies to all communications between client and lawyer. Client information is held securely and shared only as instructed by the client.

Written Engagement Terms
Before any work begins, the client receives a written engagement letter setting out the scope of work, the fee, and the basis on which the matter will proceed. Nothing proceeds without written agreement.
Continuous Legal Education
Lawyers maintain current knowledge of EPF, PERKESO, and public sector pension regulations through structured continuing professional development as required by the Malaysian Bar.
Clear Written Outputs
Every review and analysis is delivered as a written document in plain English. Clients should be able to read and understand the advice without needing a legal background to make sense of it.
Expertise & Values
Legal Knowledge in the Malaysian Pension Context
The Malaysian pension landscape encompasses multiple distinct frameworks — the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO/SOCSO), the Pension Scheme for Federal Public Servants under the Pension Act 1980, and various employer-sponsored occupational schemes. Each operates under different rules, with different eligibility criteria, calculation methods, and claims processes. Navigating these frameworks accurately requires familiarity with the specific legislation and the administrative practices of the bodies involved.
Wibawa's focus on pension matters means that this knowledge is applied consistently and updated as regulations and administrative practices evolve. When a client's entitlement review is prepared, it draws on a working understanding of the scheme in question — not a surface-level reading prepared for the occasion.
For individuals who believe their pension has been miscalculated, the process of identifying and substantiating a discrepancy requires both legal knowledge and practical familiarity with how administrators handle such correspondence. The preference at Wibawa is to resolve matters through well-prepared written engagement with the administrator wherever that is possible, reserving formal proceedings as a considered option if the situation genuinely warrants it.
Survivor and dependant matters require particular sensitivity. The family's immediate concern is rarely the paperwork — it is coping with loss while managing practical necessities. The lawyer's role in these matters is to take the pension process off the family's plate as far as possible, communicating with the administrator directly and reporting back in clear terms as the matter progresses.
